NIYOMUGABO Bernard

My name is Bernard Niyomugabo. I come from a family of six, part of the middle class, and my story is one of challenges, resilience, and transformation. I hold a degree in Biochemistry, and in 2015, I took a leap of faith and flew to the United States, hoping to find better opportunities for myself and my loved ones. Like many immigrants, especially those from East Congo, my journey was far from easy.

Before coming to America, I was a teacher in Africa. Teaching wasn’t just a job for me—it was a calling. Helping others learn and grow gave me immense joy and a deep sense of purpose. I believed then, as I do now, that empowering others is one of the greatest contributions we can make in life. This belief stayed with me as I transitioned to a new chapter in the U.S.

When I first arrived, I struggled to find my footing. I took on what I call “survival jobs”—working as a packager at Amazon, in a bakery, at a disability school, and as a self-contractor making deliveries. These jobs helped me support my family, but I longed to do something more meaningful, something that aligned with my passion for helping others.

Despite the hardships, my greatest source of joy was my family: my loving wife and our two beautiful children. They were my motivation, the reason I woke up every day and kept pushing forward. But as a husband and father, I constantly worried about their future. What if something happened to me? How could I ensure they’d be taken care of?

My life took a transformative turn when a friend introduced me to the incredible world of life insurance—specifically, Index Universal Life (IUL). I learned how this financial tool could help secure my family’s legacy, even after I’m gone. It was a revelation. Today, I can confidently say that if I were to die, my family would receive $1 million tax-free.

Even better, I discovered that while I’m still alive, I can access the funds to support my family when needed. This newfound security changed everything for me. It gave me peace of mind and inspired me to dream bigger.

With this knowledge, I became a licensed financial professional, determined to share this opportunity with others, particularly African Americans. I realized how life-changing it could be for so many families like mine—families working hard to build a better future but often lacking access to the right financial tools.

Helping people has always been part of who I am, and this new path gave me a way to continue that mission on an even larger scale. I believe that when you help a large number of people, blessings naturally follow.

That’s why I created MyLEGACYPLUS, a platform dedicated to helping as many people as possible secure their family legacies. Leveraging technology, MyLEGACYPLUS makes it easier for people to understand and access life insurance, plan for the future, and build generational wealth.

My journey has taught me that no matter where you start, with the right tools and determination, you can build a legacy that lasts. My mission is to empower others to do the same—because everyone deserves the peace of mind I’ve found for myself and my family.
